Sabrina Lin

Major: Visual Communication Design, 2nd year

What fruit best represents me: Durian, hard and spiky on the outside but soft on the inside.
Favorite article of clothing: I love my jackets and coats! I am a jacket/coat collector. Each one has their own story! Especially, my coats! My mom decided to buy just one coat for me so that I can wear it during Rochester’s winter. But I couldn’t decide which one to get out of two pretty good coats. Although I tried them both on repeatedly, I still couldn’t decide. Finally, mom decided to buy both for me because she felt those two look really good on me.
What inspires me to be creative: I want to be not only creative but useful! That is my goal when I design something new. I am a practical person that only spend time and money on which I feel 100% worth. So, what inspires me to be creative is my daily life! For me, design is solving problem from your past life experience!
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: Everything! This is my very first time join a workshop ever. So, I am looking forward to learn everything in EUREKA.

Kiki Johnson

Favorite food: Jamaican Curry Shrimp
What fruit best represents me: Banana! Because it’s bright and has a cheerful color. Also, bananas can be short.
Favorite article of clothing: One pair of jeans. Usually, I have this passionate disgust for jeans because they never fit correctly, but this last summer, I found the best pair. They are not too tight, and not too loose.
What inspires me to be creative: Classmates and my favorite artists.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: Experience with collaboration in design!

Favorite article of clothing: During this time of year, my denim jacket is my go-to article of clothing. It makes any outfit look more put together and keeps me warm without feeling too hot.
What inspires me to be creative: I am inspired by things I watch and find in movies, tv shows, Target runs, or from my travels.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: I hope to gain more experience in designing a product based on a real need with a team of other designers.

Maggie Blaisdell

Major: Graphic Design, 2nd year

What fruit best represents me: An apple: They are reliable and diverse. They do what they do well, and have enough variety to satisfy a number of palates.
Favorite article of clothing: My favorite article of clothing is my gray Columbia fleece jacket. It’s simple and goes with almost anything. I’ve had it for years, and although I wear it quite a bit, it looks like I bought it yesterday. It’s comfortable and just the right weight to keep me warm by itself in spring and fall and to be a comfy layer in the winter.
What inspires me to be creative: Seeing what others can do inspires me to be creative. I never want to copy someone or blatantly take inspiration from their work, however, seeing what is possible makes me excited about what I can do.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: I hope to gain experience related to working with other disciplines. As a graphic designer, I will not be working solely with other designers in my job. Having the opportunity to work with others will not only help me in my career, but as a person living in a collaborative world.

Lauren Tompkins

Major: Graphic Design, 2nd year
From: Where ever I sleep.
Favorite food: One of my favorite foods is Mac & Cheese. Why, because It’s amazing?
What fruit best represents me: I think a pomegranate represents me because It’s such a fun fruit. Pomegranates have many pockets and layers of seeds on the inside. Also, when the seeds are eaten there’s a refreshing burst of flavor that hits your tastebuds. I think the same qualities of a pomegranate connect to my personality because of how multilayered I can be. I would say I’m very fun and spontaneous and in conversation, I try to be as refreshing as possible.
Favorite article of clothing: All my life I have shopped at thrift stores. It had become a hobby of mine to try to find unique articles of clothing when I have extra money to spare. Over the summer I took a mini-vacation to Montgomery Alabama. While my stay there I found a 20 dollar oversized Sylvester Stallone Bomber Jacket. When I first laid eyes on it, I fell in love with how urban the jacket was and now its a treasured article of clothing in my wardrobe.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: The experience of working with a client and producing content to present to them. As a designer, I think it’s important to be able to market yourself as well as create amazing works of art. Also, I think EUREKA will give me another perspective and insight on different subcultures that I have yet to explore in my life.

What fruit best represents me: Coconut. The outside of coconut is entirely different from inside of that. I have my thought or things underneath my cold and calm appearance.

What inspires me to be creative: The process. I always quickly finish a project with plain design and turn back to revise and revise until my project is best.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: Any inspiration. I hope I can widen my ideas of library.

What fruit best represents me: I would say any citrus fruit because i have many sections that I focus on in my life.
Favorite article of clothing: I own a lot ascots and they are my favorite because the provide personality and hold a history of their own. From providing it out of chivalry or using it to hide your identity.
What inspires me to be creative: Knowing that not everything has been done, and it never will be.

Favorite article of clothing: My grey overcoat. This is my favorite because it’s not only fashionable, it’s also very practical! And how can you go wrong for $28?!
What inspires me to be creative: Making others feel something through my work. If there was nothing in it for anyone else besides myself, then I wouldn’t be in the creative field.
What I hope to take away from the EUREKA! experience: I would love to have my first collaborative design experience outside of classes!

Favorite article of clothing: I have this one sweater that I love to wear. It’s soft, plush, and really toasty. It’s my favourite because it’s perfect for going from cold to cozy.
