EUREKA! 2021 PROMPTS

FRIENDS OF WASHINGTON GROVE

Washington Grove is a hidden gem urban park that is located in the Cobbs Hill Park in Rochester. The Friends of Washington Grove would like your ideas to increase awareness among city residents about this natural resource, and to educate and inform residents about the many benefits to experiencing and appreciating nature. There are five categories (paths) for teams to explore.

***Participants are responsible for requesting interpreting services.

RIT requires all RIT students, staff, alumni, and faculty to wear masks that cover their noses and mouths indoors at all times and outdoors in crowded settings. This is mandatory. If you have been exposed to Covid-19 or are not feeling well, please follow all RIT Ready protocols and notify Lorrie Frear as soon as possible at lxfcad@rit.edu.

EUREKA! DAY 1: Day at Washington Grove

9:00am–5:00pm | Friday, October 22, 2021

Please wear your EUREKA! t-shirts!

RIT bus will transport students to Washington Grove Park, and will leave from the Sentinel Statue bus loop (in front of the SAU) promptly at 9:00am and return at 5:00pm. All participants must use this transportation.

The bus will drop participants off at Tay House Lodge at Cobbs Hill Park. (85 Hillside Avenue, Rochester NY) This is our designated location to use throughout the day.

Please feel free to leave laptops, backpacks, food, etc in the Lodge when you are out exploring the park. Teams are encouraged to meet in the Tay House Lodge to discuss findings and begin to work on their proposed solutions.

Please bring water and snacks as needed. Lunch will be provided at Tay House. We will try as best as possible to accommodate dietary restrictions, but please bring food along if you prefer, or if you feel that your needs may not be met. We will NOT be leaving the park during the day for any reason.

Once the RIT bus drops participants off at RIT, teams may meet as needed at RIT or elsewhere to work on their concepts. All teams must interact with the four EUREKA! facilitators during the day for feedback.
